my little girl(7 mths) loves biccies, arrowroots and also water crackers they are great they are plain to us but for them i think it is as much a crontrolling it as it is eating it.
i have a great recipe for polenta fingers, they are messy but loved. |

I wonder what she likes about them ... maybe there's some healthier option you can replace them with?
Homemade bikkies with oats or something? Rice crackers (my fussy eater loves them)? I don't think the occasional one is a problem- or as a 'grandma's treat'. Also remember for the first 12mo, breastmilk or formula should be the main source of nutrition, solids are complementary, so just keep offering her a wide range of stuff and it doesn't matter if she doesn't eat a lot of it

Harry really love rice/corn thins and rice crakers. As long as it's not replacing every meal and only once in a while that it really can't harm her. May be this will help her to find out that food is fun and good to eat.
Children often have to be shown/presented with food up to 8 times before they will eat it. So keep showing and encouraging her to eat other healthy foods and soon she will understand that food is good.

you know, she might not thank you for it when she's older, esp if she has a weight problem.
i'd do what bek suggested - making healthy biscuits with veges

Alex has an arrowott (spelling?) biscuit every now & then. He especially enjoys them when teething. I really don't think an occasional non-choc biscuit is going to hurt....we all have naughty little treats at times don't we? The main thing is, do what you feel comfortable & happy with, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

I went to see a paed with Jamie. I took a milk arrowroot biscuit to keep Jamie quiet while we were talking. The paed said to me "you don't want this do you? It rots their teeth, and threw it in the bin!" I was really surprised. I do still give them to him though LOL. Maybe twice a week when I'm desperate and just need a moment to eat my tea without him screaming in my ear.

I think that was really rude of your pead. Sussanah - if he had a problem with it he should have said something to you.
My dietican actually told me to feed Brandon scotch fingers, and honey jumbles! |

Lucky Brandon LOL. I have to admit, my Brandon is underweight too, and after he has had a cold, he's just a bag of bones. I have to feed him doughnuts and chips to fatten him up. Then I wean him off them. Luckily at his age he forgets pretty quickly and is happy to eat healthy food.
