Question Wondering if you've seen a cost/rubbish analysis...

The other curious thought I had pop into my head tonight was this...

Have you seen (or created yourself) a spreadsheet/document showing how much you could save if you used cloth instead of disposables one day a week? I was wondering also how much landfill that would save.

I could probably do it myself if there are smarter brains than mine around to give me some info. I've never used disposables myself. How many newborn nappies are used per day, and how many in the other sizes? Any idea of the cost of each of them?

In my mind, it is a simple as saying 8x newborn nappies for 12 weeks, and 6x other nappies for 118 weeks (2 1/2 years - 12 weeks). That would give the number of nappies one day a week, right?

Appreciate any help or links...

I have another query too, but there is a second thread for it!!!

(scroll down to over half way down the page)
there is surely more than that - check out OzCloth Nappies too, but that's a start? If that's what you were after?

I guess you could work out per day from that.

this is a few years old, and the business who put up the site is out of business, I believe, however the information is great:

Thanks for all these links; I've seen most (but not all) of them.

I am in a super "efficient" mood (read = lazy), and didn't want to do what someone else may already have done.

Basically, I wanted to have a definitive answer (barbed comment!) to make that using cloth one day a week eg Saturday, a family would save $x (cost of disposables - cost of some cloth/washing bla bla) and save x tonnes of filth into landfill.

I guess I can use the figures given in these articles to deduce the same info - I just didn't want to (more fun hypothesising and blabbering than actually doing the math!).

Thanks for the links again!
