Default OT - the move to the big bed

Em is 18mths, and she and I are going to swap rooms in about 2 months. I dont want to have to dismantle the cot, move it 10m and reassemble it, so we are trying to move her in a toddler bed.

But she keeps distroying her room!

She pulls clothes out of her drawers, shelves off the bookshelf, teddies everywhere, plays with the power point button, plays with her oil heater and will NOT go to sleep in it (But will stay asleep if transfered).

She isnt the type to lt me pat her off to sleep, and we have always tuck andrun, so she doenst have a sleep routiene as she has never needed one.

Any ideas?

The only thing I can suggest is to either remove all the fun stuff out of her room until she is use to sleeping in her big bed, or have all the fun stuff high up on shelves. Harry doesn't play in his room as such, all the toys are in the lounge room, so he associates his room with sleeping, dressing and nappy changing only. However, if he doesn't want to sleep he will fun things to play with....like pulling all his wipes out of their container.
Hope this helps Brooke.

She is still awake, but playing with nothing in the cot. Every now and again she will call out and bang on the wall.

Might try that with things tomorrow. I have put child locks n most of her drawers, but I will clear off the bottom of her bookshelf.

There isn't much in there anyway. Here is a pic of her and her bed

For me 18 months is too young for a big bed - but that's just based on my kids. But when we move to our new house (Christmassy) we'll put all there stuff in one room (it's 4 bed + study so heaps of room), and there beds in another room - so when we do do the transistion to beds (which I think is still at least a year or so away) we won't have anything to be destroyed.

LOL Vicki! Not really. I just dont want to move that cot!

We do have maybe two months, so I wont push her at all. Once she is asleep she is fine, and will still sleep the 8.30am. And she has only fallen out twice (that we have heard!)

I was in a bed at 18mths, so I cant help but try. If it doenst work, then it doesnt work. I will just make DF do it!
