New Cherub to Kiss
I am pleased as punch to announce, that at 7:38 am this morning, the 18th of July, Katherine Elizabeth Fletcher made her way into the world. After 80 minutes of labour, so quicker than a game of Soccer, but no less strenuous for the participant, my darling wife gave birth to a 9 lb 6 oz bundle of joy (4.26 kg for the modern ones amongst us). 55 cm long, and with a head measuring 35.5 cm, she has a set of lungs to rival Dame Nellie Melba, and a crown of dark hair, which we're hoping reveals itself as red and curly.
Holding her mere seconds after her birth I was struck yet again by the miracle of life, the wonder of the limitless opportunities that awaited my 4th child, and just how damn slippery she was (and that dropping her before she was a minute old, after Lesley had spent the last 9 months baking her just right, would be thoroughly frowned upon by all present). After the initial shock, she has spent her first day being pampered by her parents and siblings (although somewhat ignored by her 2 year old brother) and generally looking about the place, at the various fuzzy shapes and blobs that come into her view. She has taken the transition remarkably well. I have spent as much time as possible just holding and looking at her, as I know all too well, that this time (like all time really) goes by in the twinkling of an eye. I realise I am preaching to the choir in this particular forum, but I thoroughly recommend parenthood to everyone. There is absolutely nothing like it. Oh, and if Bronnie or Jo is reading this, we would love our usernames to be changed to Lesley4 and MrLesley4, as soon as you get the chance.

80mins labour!  well bloody done  Love love love the name Katherine, can't wait to see the pic of your new cherub. Enjoy the babymoon. I so know what you mean aobut holding and looking at her all the time nothing is better than that.
