I prefer paypal too... instant payment is the bonus. No need to wait around while payment clears, no need to check bank accounts every day to see if money has come in, no worries about payment being knocked back 3 days later coz I typed the bsb wrong and not realising coz I didnt' check that account! lol

Fees are a pita though... still cheaper then a bank merchant account though...

You will also often here people talk of thier paypal money as seperate to thier normal money... its like thier little pocket money account that they will often say.. 'hey, i have a spare $50 in paypal, what can I buy! lol'

Definantly worthwhile to have! Business wise, dd is cheaper and easier to access the funds, but paypal is just too convenient...lol

thanks everyone,
the fees don't seem to be too bad and only apply when someone uses Paypal, for most of my items it is like 70c or something

so should I upgrade my personal account or open a new one for business?

I would be careful about what you are doing with your cart software too.
It's against paypal TOS to direct people to different accounts for different payments, though a lot of people still do it.
I know there was a lot of discussion on the zen cart forum about it, and they are very specific in that if anyone uses the cart (or edits the paypal module that is installed, to do it) to send one type of payment to one account and another to another account to avoid fees, they will take action against you and most probably shut your cart software down, as they don't want to be held responsible by paypal. (or appear to be encouraging fee avoiding)

thanks Lis, I don't want to redirect people to save 70cents, that's more of a PITA than anything...I just didn't know what a mercahnt account was
got it sorted now, thanks everyone
learnign this cart software is a challenge, but I'm nearly there
