Default Carseat...

We have a convertible carseat mothers choice I think. Well Kalan is now 9.6KGS. He is only 6 months 1 week old though.

When would it be okay to have it front facing ? I don't know any of the laws so feel free to fill me in as much as you like. I think there is a front facing reclining position, would that be okay ?

I'm only asking this because I think he would enjoy it more if he could get a better look of everything.

You should not turn until over 8kg, and when bubs has GOOD head control - but best to leave thim rear facing for as long as possible - up to 12kg most seats allow

He doesnt even look that big. I am so shocked at how much he weighs. I don't even think he looks that chubby.

But sure enough he is & its no wonder all his nappies keep getting tighter, him & his pot belly.

Just a couple more kgs joh..

I turned my kids around at 6 mths,
I dont think it has much to do with weight, more to do with good head control
And some kids just hate facing the rear!!!!

yes the weight IS important...if you crash..i think it holds them in the seat better?? i can't remember, i read about it in the manual that came with one of our seats

yup, some are happier turned, but the seats instructions dont recommend it until over 8kg....but my instructions said nothing about head control??!!

that never changes ime a good reason to keep them rear facing, as their heads flops WAY LESS when asleep.

Keep it rear facing as long as hes not protesting... lol Poor Cam never hit 8kgs till he was 10mths old but I was naughy and turned it when he was 8mths as he was protesting very loudly... he is quite long though and 'fit' in the seat well. (Not that that matters too much but it made me feel less guilty).

You CAN turn it... but I guess the q is.. do you want to? lol

Well I am so horrible I sit in the back with him most of the time to amuse him... LOL DP looks like a chauffeur.

We undo the straps going to the back to make it easier to put him in but it becomes a hassle to be moving the straps all the time.

He is pretty long... as well. I still can't believe he is almost 10kgs...
