I've been doing pilates for 3 years Larissa - I did it right through my pregnancy. It works core strength and toning your muscles. So it builds up the tummy muscles to keep your belly in. The only problem is you have to get rid of the fat on the outside of your belly before it looks toned

It's also helped me a lot with sinus and headache problems I used to have (mainly because of tension in my neck). I would highly recommend it

I'd like to join in. I don't own a pair of scales, really do need to buy some though but at my last docs appointment 6 weeks ago I weighed in at 79 which is way too much for me because I'm also 5 ft nothing so I look very overweight.

I'm a big snacker between meals so I really have to work on that and I don't do enough exercise. So I've started taking the kids for a walk every 2nd morning and I pushed the pram around the neighbourhood for 1/2 hour tonight, hopefully I'll be able to make this part of my routine.

Well, I'm game . Yesterday I weighed 87.9kg . I have never been this big before & I feel terrible.

I am 2 days into my new healthy lifestyle and I'm already feeling better for it

I've just got back from an hour long walk & I've eaten within my recommended calories for the last 2 days (this is big achievement for me!). Mindless/boredom eating is my downfall & I really struggled this afternoon with DH back at work but I got through it without eating anything!!

I'm 172cm tall and my goal weight is 70kg so 17.9kg to lose. 70kg will see me wearing a comfortable size 12 in most clothes & maybe even a few 10s on the bottom Can't wait!

Edited to add - I've done pilates a couple of times and during the class I felt as though I wasn't working anywhere near hard enough but the next day I was sooooo sore For me, it was too boring though - I like to sweat it out when I exercise.

Ooo can I join in too!!

My weight is 79kg & I am 178cm tall, my goal weight is about 68kg so 11kg to lose.
My biggest problem is snacking & boredom eating, I also over indulge in the yummy things like chocolate, tim tams & anzac biscuits.

I have a plan, which I think might work. I am aiming for 3-4, 40mins walks every week & 2-3 sessions of pilaties every week (DVD at home), also watching what I eat & taking note of everything that gose in my mouth.

Since last week I have lost 500gms , not much but it's something & that's the main aim.

Good luck to everyone

Cheers

Julie,
I might weigh 88kg but I am 5 foot nothing pretty much. Until about 3 weeks ago, I weighed over 95kg and while pregnant I weighed over 120kg :0

Please don't feel alienated here

Lots of short people here (like me!).

Definitely don't feel alienated... we're all striving for the same goal - to be healthy, happy and better parents to our child/ren.

I mean, because of my height I want to lose 24kg which sounds a lot but if you break it down into interim goals it makes it more manageable in your head.

If anyone's interested a diet website has recently made it's membership free and I find a lot of the tools there very helpful.

Cheers!

i'm sure we're all NOT skinnies in here Julie. all depends on height/weight ratio i certainly didn't feel skinny before we started our new eating plan here. i still don't and I don't want to be skinny. I just want to fit into all the clothes I fit into before I got pregnant with Marcus at least, so I don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe.

way to go Cathy! A slow weight loss is usually the healthiest way to go about it!

Thanks for the info on pilates, there is a pilates studio a 5 min (uphill) walk from here so might ring them and check it out! I also rang a gym yesterday (Curves) an dbooked an assessment for next Tuesday. I think a 30 min workout is all I can manage, any more and I would back out for sure!

And to all the people who feel uncomfortable joining, don't please! Every one has the same goals, we are all unhappy with how we look/feel and are just here to support each other, its not like we will see each other! lol!

forgot one thing: Susan, what diet website is it?

Hi Julie,
I'm not skinny at all & the reason I want to loose weight is to be healthy & live longer as heart disease is in my family.
So please come & join in with us, no one is judging anyone here, we're all in it together
Cheers,
