oh man

in the last few weeks Liam has been getting bitten something horrible in his bedroom, he refuses to even sleep on the bed so I thought it might have been bed mites or something. They are clusters of bites and some of them are spread out and atm he has about 6 of them grouped together just above his right eye and it looks HORRIBLE! I sprayed his room out and it kept happening, but reading this and thinking about it a little more sensibly, his room has a storage area dug out underneath the house and being woodden floor boards any bugs could easily get up through the floor...I might have to bomb it...thanks ladies, I never considered treating "under" the house!

I agree with treating under the house - we have dogs here so they are our problem - but with floor boards and very damp ground under the house as soon as the weather gets warmer they come out. Thank goodness this summer has been quiet mild so far.

Last year we had to use black plasitc (our house is raised on brick piers/footings with large openings) to enclose under the house and the pest guy sprayed a white powder under there. Worked a treat.

could it be bed bugs - not the mites, but the actual bugs. I saw a feature on it on "Whats Good For You" a couple of weeks ago. Check the mattress (escpecially in all the seams/edges) and in the corners of the room (near the skirting boards). I think they said you need to get a bug guy in to get rid of them though if you do have them.
Nasty things - poor Liam!

how long have you lived there kylee? i don' think pest control needs to be covered by a landlord (i did a RE course 6years ago, can't really remember!)
