At 15 months, I think that's fairly early. Becky is 15 months now and the only sign she's shown is squatting and says "poo". She's not aware of wanting to wee or doing wees though. I have no idea about TT my child either and I'm not in a hurry

Having said that, she hates having a nappy on her most of the time...so I may have to start that soon.

I just asked Sophie if she wanted to use the toilet when I was aware she was weeing and pooing. Never bothered with a potty. Just a little padded seat on teh loo so her bum didn't fall in.

My youngest turned 3 last week, and she's only just starting(the eldest was the earliest to train at 2-2.5yrs).

Buy a potty by all means to familiarise himself with it.

Does he let you know either when he needs to go, or when he's been in his nappy, because if he doesn't then it's a good indication he's not ready yet.

so much easier to let them do it themselves - and i'd say it happens about the same time anyway

We started to TT DS 2 weeks ago, he's 3 in Feb. He's nearly fully trained already including poo trained, so maybe it is easier to leave it until they are ready and then they train really quickly.

DS is showing signs as well. He often takes his nappy off then pees or poos and has for some time. We have bought him a pottie but he prefers to put his feet in it than sit on it He is 16 months.

With DD she had no idea and she did a pee in the pottie when she was 2 but didn't do anymore until she was 2 1/2 then only when she had no pants on. It was nuddie bum around here for some time

I don't like toilet training but they will eventually get it. I think the main thing is not to stress the child. I heard of one mum who pushed it so much the poor kid was terrified and they had to go see a child psyc.

this will be no help at all! lol!

olivia was 2 1/2 and it was right about the time i converted to cloth, i had some FB's for her and when I'd put them on I'd say you aren't allowed to wee or poo in these special nappies and she didn't! lol! she told me so we started that way when out and undies around home, she TT'd (day trained) in 2 weeks, not night trained yet though and if you have her nappy on her for half an hour before bed the bugger will tell you she's done wees in it! grrr! she's lazy! but no way would she have been ready that young! they just can' tell you they need to go!

I like to leave mine till they are able to understand it allot easier, this was before knowing anything about ECing though.

Toilet awareness is definately the first steps, my 2 and a half yr old DD is just starting with this now. She still just likes to play and pull the toilet paper off the roll...hehe

I'm worried that you're starting very young, unless you're doing EC.

my DS is just about a year older than yours at 2y3.5m - we've had a potty for a few months and a toilet insert but only had one success in the potty. He will hold it and hold it and hold it!! We do a lot of nappy free time at home. Lucky we have wooden floors in most of the house so it's easy to clean up..... we haven't had a poo accident yet luckily as mostly he'll do them first thing in the morning in his nappy.

This afternoon around 4.30 (he'd not done a wee since 8.30am....) I asked him if he needed to wee - for the very first time he didn't say no! I asked him if he wanted to wee on the potty or have a nappy on, and he wanted a nappy. (by the way this kid will only sit still to have a nappy put on if he knows we're going in the car!!!) Put the nappy on him and within 10 mins he's soaked it and was pulling it off. So at 2 and a quarter he definitely knows about wees but isn't happy to do them in anything but his nappy.....
