oh I forgot, the BEST book I ever read to help me deal with pregnancy and labour was Birthing from Within. Try and get hold of it. Its a fantastic book. Let me know if you can't find it anywhere 'cause I can look for it here and mail you a copy if you like.

I just wanted to point out that not all c-sections lead to feeding issues.... I couldn't feed straight away, and ended up being in recovery for an hour (I think it was), yet we had no problems with feeding....or bonding.
my birthing experience is one of the (many) reasons we're sticking to one. Absolutely no desire to go through that again! But when we checked out of hospital the head midwifey person was telling me I had to go vbac next time! so I think finding a hospital (if you're going that route) that supports and encourages that is important.

I started a thread about a similar thing. just out of interest were you induced? I have read lots of stuff about that resulting in failure to progress, and after my first which was also about 36 hours of useless labour, not even contractions just constant pain, Eddie refused to attach, not couldn't but screamed when put on them, I was devastated, but no.2 took to them straight away and now I can't get him off!!! (He in only just turning one, so no need to wean yet!!)
Just talk talk talk about it, if your friends get sick of it join forums and talk talk talk!! |

For help with breastfeeding, contact the ABA. They are VERY supportive. They have a 24 hour breastfeeding helpline - use it! Perhaps you could attend an antenatal class on breastfeeding. Many women can breastfeed successfully second time around, with appropriate support and encouragement. Australian Breastfeeding Association - Breastfeeding Helpline Service this page has the helpline numbers, they are different in each state. Yes you DO have a good chance of achieving a VBAC. ~80% of women attempting a VBAC succeed. Your chances are better if the labour is not induced or augmented (eg. with a drip to bring on uterine contractions). And of course if you are supported (by DH, midwife, other people) in your decision to VBAC. Believe in yourself! so corny but it is so true. You are NOT a failure!

(((HUGS))) it's such a shame hospitals put time limits on labour and leave women feeling like failures and traumatised
![]() I didn't notice if anyone gave you the link to joyous birth? It's got loads of information about VBACs ect and there is also a section for women seeking support to help heal from birth trauma.. which also helps with gaining the confidence to have a VBAC. Here's the link JIC it wasn't given. Joyous Birth - The Australian Homebirth Network |
