Update: After a couple of months doing the commuting thing I am hanging up my gloves. I am slowly realising that I can't turn off that 'mum' switch. Yup I have been commuting and that is probably the worst face of riding to see (too many close calls from *beeps* who don't deserve to be breathing never mind driving) but rather than it getting easier to get on that bike every morning, it is getting harder and the joy is wearing off. As much as I love the rush, just me on the bike, freedom, etc etc my instincts at the mo are overiding that. Maybe it is a culmination of the very close calls (which we all have I know but friggin hell I am surprised at the *beeps* out there who have no concept of motorbikes or really anything else on the road in general), the increased crashes we hear about (it has just been crazy over here in WA
averaging two crashes a day involving a motorcyclist) or plain and simple being a mum, and not having the kid-free time for just 'me' rides rather than commuting. Who knows.....although I just know that I shouldn't be riding at the moment. I am going to go with my gut. Maybe when things change with the little one I will be wanting to get on that bike again (the bike will be safely tucked away in the garage - I love her and what she represents - she is a 'stayer') but for now I am going to let it go ride-wise. It has been fun getting out there on the bike again but just not the right time for me iykwim.Sorry for the ramble but had to get it out! ![]() Bec.

Fair enough. My hubby got a bike soon after we got together after he'd had a bit of a break from riding. He loved getting on it again and it was a really nice bike. Much bigger than his old one but after he fell off it, he sold it. Just reached a point of mortality I think....he still talks of one day maybe getting another bike but while our kids are little, I don't think it's going to happen in a hurry....
Very exciting that you're keeping your bike for future reference .... Probably in a few years you'll be taking Gracie to school on it There's a girl at my kids school who gets picked up on her dad's bike. My kids think it's the coolest thing!

Ah bummer Bec...
esp when it's something you really wanted... BUt at least you're going with your gut, yk? It's a good thing in that sense and like you said you never really 'enjoy' it when your gut is tapping you on the shoulder all the time. I've had a similar feeling but with surfing (out of nowhere after years of paddling out) - and it's like you said something you really 'love' it's hard to listen to that niggling thing... but I did and while I miss paddling out, I knew that at that time (like you) I wasn't meant to be out there. xo
