My DS no 2 has been all set to go to his first day of school (prep) today. He's been a PAINFULLY shy child, so we've been trying to get him excited about it - meeting up with his kindy friend yesterday that will be going to the same school, going and visiting his classroom, meeting his teacher, talking about how grown up he's getting etc etc. All those things you try and do to make them feel positive about it all.
![]() He had a rash yesterday afternoon, and I just thought it was heat rash. Then he started complaining about a sore throat last night. We checked him thismorning (still trying to stay positive about school), and the rash was worse. It still could just be the heat of course....but let's try to see the Dr anyway just in case. Rung the Dr and got in at 8am thank goodness.Dr takes one look and gets a second opinion. Definitely no going to school for the next couple of days. There's been scarlett fever going around too - bring him in again if he gets any worse. We want to see him tommorrow morning as well. ![]() I have been so worried about him starting school and his shyness. I'm REALLY worried now that he'll get behind the rest of the kids in forging friendships and stuff . They'll have got their little cliques, and he won't break into them. I'm trying to tell myself that maybe it's a good thing - the teacher will have more time to ease him in and keep an eye on him (cause all the others have tackled the first couple of days already). Also, the rest of the kids will be feeling a bit more confident so perhaps she can help him with friendships....

Children at his age catch up with making friends very easily. Make sure he is well first and then I'm sure he'll be fine.

Prep kiddies are too little to have 'cliques', he'll make friends, don't worry xx

Oh Kirsten that is just horrible... I hope he is feeling much better soon though...
And I'm sure he'll be able to settle in much better if he's feeling 100% in a few days time... But you've also got me thinking - G has a lot of spots on her that I thought were just bites but now P & I both have shockingly sore throats and massive headaches, so I'm hoping we haven't got an *outbreak* of something up here too
