That's a great idea Aimee. I like the 'freedom' design.

None here either... Rent takes all of my pension and what I make selling things pays for food, bills, petrol etc and for actually running the business. There's nothing left for extras... But then it's just me and the dog and the cat. It's an entirely different thing when you have a family and mortgage etc.

Aimee that's FANTASTIC!!

DH and I have absolutely no will power and we spend every single cent if its in our "savings" account. That's why at the beginning of each year, tally up what could be our savings and we redirect a bit of our pay directly into that account rather than our normal account. Then each year, we put that money into our mortgage or any other big repairs.

So in a way our savings is like a fortnightly bill that we pay *before* we pay other expenses.

Our savings are about $900 a month.... except all that extra money this year has gone into our new house. So actual balance in bank is almost $0. oh well, an asset is a form of savings. ... (though its also a liability waiting to happen ) and there's always next year....

My DP gets paid monthly and its generally quite a bit and we normally have $1500 left after paying rent/bills. That excludes bills that come after pay day. So I'll say maybe $1000, lately its been bad, we've had so many things break and go wrong, we just had to get the car fixed and buy 4 new tyres.

ETA

We have no loan repayments, car repayments or anything. We pay for a home phone, power, gas, mobile phone & water. That basically consists of our bills and contents and car insurance.

That's great Aimee

We have bugger all left over each week but we do pay extra on things. DH has extra go into his super, we put extra on the mortgage and we do have some automatically directed to a svaings acct. So I count those things we'd have about $120/week left over, without them it's more like $30.
That said we don't get all our FTB's each fortnight, just the minimums and we get a big bonus at tax time that covers all the big things during the year (rates, reno's holidays, big ticket buys) and leaves us a nice amount of savings during the year in case we need to find money somehow.

$0.

If I buy something, something gets dipped into so I can buy.
