another one left with $0 here, but probably more accurately a -$$$ amount, as in my savings are disappearing at a fast rate.

Considering at the moment we pay for rent and a mortgage on land that who knows when we will move to, we have nothing left over! Add to that expecting a boy baby and having no boy clothes or anything, lol! We aren't doing too well! But once we are on our land living (rent free) in our "shed conversion" while we build our house we will be crusing again!

Living on a tradesman's income isn't easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll join the $0 savings club.

But, on reflection, we haven't looked at our finances since starting the Consumption Challenge, and our bank balance is looking healthier than it has in ages.

Thanks for the kick up the bum to sit down with DH and sort out a Consumption Challenge budget. I really really avoid looking at finances, it's all too scary. We have barely any repayments (ie loans or credit cards) so I don't know why we're not saving more (or at all). Maybe it's time to find out. And time to see what can be made cheaper (ie phone/internet/private health cover).

I found if I said I would save what was left over for the week it would probably be nothing cause there would always be something we wanted or needed.

I made a decision to put a set aside away each FN and we pay everything else with whats left. There are corners to be cut but just not in my eyes from the savings side. If something blows up we have money to cover it if needed.

Only my income is consistent. DP is a horse trainer and we are still getting back on our feet after EI, so that once things settle down, basically my pay a fortnight minus my car loan ($300) and that should leave us with about $700-800 saved. SHOULD in theory!
