the fact that the proposed reason they are removing the supplements is because of our 'aging population' and so they then TAKE that money from the aging population?? and give it to people on parenting payment which their taskforce returned with the statement it was too lax and too many people were being overpaid and take it from the people on carers who the SAME TASKFORCE came back with report saying it came nowhere near meeting the needs of the families with disabled people yeah thats hypocritical in my view.

plus all of rudds comments about compassion and how autism and disabilities were above and beyond politics and party politics and how they were honor john howards autism policy and then cut wayyyy back because of inflation and then spend more money on the other supplements and raise them again.. once again that seems hypocritical to me.
ok let me try to rephrase. if its due to inflation that they are removing funds from carers, and seniors then doesn't it seem a bit wrong that despite inflation other payments supplements are still increasing? does that make more sense?

So maybe ..
If they feel the needs for cuts they should distribute them fairly across the welfare system instead of one group?

if it was across the board totally cool, but as it is it looks like discrimination against those who can not work and improve their situation

Don't even get me started on this!!!
I'm not happy at all In the past 3 years, we have spent just shy of $20,000 on therapy alone (different kinds) to try & improve his outlook on life, so that he's NOT a 'drain' on society, and hopefully has some chance of holding down a job in the future, and they can't manage to squeeze us into the budget! We still have a loooooooooooooong way to go, and many many thousands of dollars to try and 'improve' him...we are lucky that we are able to afford it, but some families aren't even able to manage the cost of basic living because they can't work due to caring for a disabled loved one! If we can't look after them, who can!?!?!?! I can't see the point in taking such a small payment away, when later on down the track it is likely to cost the government more $$$$ to institutionalise those people that couldn't get the appropriate care in the beginning ![]() But in the same breath on the news last night, the "funds" for the PNG Aids campaign were announced! What about looking after your own backyard before looking after you investment interestes first hey!?!?!?!?!?! Thanks alot Rudd!

thats the oddest thing EVERY study done on it has shown that if you spend funds when they are young it reduces the amount spent on support when they are an adult by hundreds of thousands so why in the world can't they take the bigger picture view??
i find it staggering though they are doing this the same year the taskforce came back and told them to restructure carers as carers payment doesn't reach the people that need it. and went on about the financial and emotional difficulties that carers face. i am staggered, i voted for rudd and i was sooo happy when he got in, i voted for him despite the fact liberals autism plan was soo much better for the kids as I thought he was better for ALL australians. but no apparently it seems only some minorities deserve his compassion. fuming.
