hehe I hear whispers maternity payment is going to get cut now... anyone know anymore about that?

it actually can't be its been legislated that it hits 5k this year, it was set in stone the first year of the new maternity payment =)

No, they can always change the legislation. I hope for the sake of any pregnant women around that it stays for them, but as long as they can get the amendments passed, it can be altered or removed whenever the government wants.

However, Rudd did say yesterday that he would stick to his election promise to keep the baby bonus, so it appears to be staying.

I'm more irritated at the government scrapping a number of the Liberal promises, like the changes to dental cover under medicare that many people desperately need. And the funding for counselling services to parents who miscarry or have a stillborn.

i'm furious about the promises about dental not coming through, so many people desperately need it, recently a poll showed 75% of australians need dental work but can't afford it!!
