Default We're home safe and sound - just

Just got home today from our week in Perth. It's a 2.5hr flight then a 2hr drive. Hubby normally does the driving but he had a meeting when we landed so I went on ahead with the kids and he got a lift back with someone else.

Well, we're (me and the 4 kids) are shaken but not stirred as I rolled the car on the way home. I think we only did one revolution but John said looking at the tracks, we may have gone over twice (he came home later and stopped at the site on the way).

That's what happens when you fall asleep at the wheel. It happens a lot up here and now it has happened to me. Fortunately, I'm a real stickler when it comes to strapping everyone in and packing the car so that there's nothing that might land on someone in a crash...

As soon as we left the road though, I was praying (really loudly!) and God answered my prayers by sending his angels to protect us. The car is a right off (to be expected) but it was drivable (someone drove it away from the road) and heaps of people stopped to help and get us into town. We all went down the hospital and checked out fine

Probably have a few kids waking in the night crying tonight but other than that, we're all perfectly ok Seatbelts really really work Poor hubby went past the car on the way home and so was a little worried but he knew that we were ok. Pity I totalled the work car and not our own car. Our own car is getting a little old (like a bomb) and we're already thinking about a new one.

Anyway, enough rambling! Just wanted to share my 'news'

OMgoodness, Cas! How scary. You sound very calm in your post, but please take care of yourself, you may find shock sets in. I'm glad you are all okay.

I must say it sounds very friendly that lots of people stopped to help you, though, even if the circumstances weren't good.

Lots of people did stop - including 2 road trains however, that was after a truck and a car just drove straight past....

I'm strangely calm. Not sure if it's because shock has not work off yet, I'm in denial as to the magnitude of the accident, or the fact that I'm accident prone and think I've had a pretty good run in the last 12yrs, with only 2 accidents! (first one being a broken collarbone 4yrs ago 6mths preg with #3) I think the kids and hubby are more shaken than me (atm)

Oh my goodness Cas, I am so glad that everyone is ok :O Thank goodness for seatbelts though!!! Please take it easy, and I do hope the kids are able to recover without too many nightmares and side effects. Maybe having a nice quiet weekend as a family is a good idea too, it will also give the kids a chance to talk about anything that is concerning them about the whole incident and relieve some of the shock that may be present. What an end to an already 'interesting' week!

Thinking of you guys!
x Mel
