Default Would you take Georgie to a Theatre with Croup?

Title says it all!

We have tickets to see Hi-5's regional tour (so who knows if it is the real hi-5 or not... can you tell I'm cynical!).

ANYWAY, Georgie has croup and has been up most of last night coughing and is still coughing... I know if she were coughing like this during a serious thing at the theatre I'd want to shoot the parent who took her, but Hi-5 isn't exactly that serious...

But I don't know if being in the air conditioned theatre with a heap of other kids poses too great a risk for her - obviously more kids = more risk of more bugs making it all worse, but I have no idea if the a/c exacerbates the condition...

I really don't think we should go but I know Em was looking forward to it... and my best friend who would have no doubt volunteered to take her is out of town

All I can say is that croup is horrible

Will she come good in a hour or 2 once the day warms up Theresa????

In my experience croup seems to lift once the day warms up

Such a shame Em will have to miss out if Georgie is unwell But my kids often have to miss things because of the others IYKWIM

A couple of days ago I would have sid she would be fine, but yesterday she was croupy all day

She's on pred too and I'm not convinced steam works that well for her so I'm feeling a bit lost this time because its worse than usual... and not responding as fast.

I might ring a friend and see if i can babysit her son and she can take Em and her daughter... although her son is very prone to asthma and I would hate for him to catch the virus that set it of... *sigh*

But you are right Wems - sometimes they do just have to miss out.... but its not fair we missed the Wiggles a couple of years ago because Em and I were in hospital with a gastro

Ohhh, Theresa

What would happen if you went and had to leave partway through because G's cough wouldn't settle down (i.e. would the girls have a meltdown and be unmanageable for you to get out of there)?

I had gastro when the Wiggles came here! and had to get Garry to chuck a sickie and take the kids because they were looking forward to it so much. I know dry air from a/c does make coughs worse ... but it might work differently in a venue full of people. I dunno.

well, this is all a moot point now...

I have just officially won an award for "worlds meanest mummy"!

Hi-5 is APRIL 10, not March 10 so I now have one very upset big girl here, but she was happy enough to come home if she could watch a hi5 movie instead...

Poor little sausages - Em was SO excited and I've just ruined it all for her...

Awww, poor Em

That sounds like something I would do Actually I'd probably get it the other way round so we missed it, which would be worse! So hey, you could have done worse
