I dunno about that you should have heard the uproar when they introduced it and we have plenty of other dodgy things up here!

You also have to check with PHI cover - it only covers aspects of Ambulance transport/care - not everything fromlast time I read anything on the topic.

FWIW though my best friend is an Ambo and she said the change to it being included on the power bills hasn't really filtered down to show any extra funding or anything like that - in fact, they seem to get a lot more calls for things like people needing a bandaid because a lot of the more intresting patients seem to think they can use it for EVERYTHING At least before the change the number of those types of calls was reduced becaue the people most likely to make those calls wouldn't have paid for cover so would have had to pay...

wow here in sa the bill we got was $500 and we thought that was bad
so yes, now we have ambulance insurance - i think its $100 a year?? anyways we got our use out of it til recent years

OH Boy Claire

We got a shocker of a bill when I had Abby and we were taken to hospital from home

The hospital is ONE small country town block away from home and it cost us over $250.00 EACH

Thanks god Grae and I have been in the ambulance fund for years as we have always lived out of town till we bought this place and we were worried about how much it would cost to go to the hospital

I was worried we weren't going to get Abby covered as of course she wasn't on our policy BUT I had 60 days from her birth to add her

Otherwise our freebirth would have cost over $500 ........when I have had all the other kids at a public hospital and they have all been free

ours was a short trip too (10 mins max) - maybe longer trips cost more???

Thats why we got it when we lived out of town as it would have been $$$$$$$$$ to get to the nearest hospital And Grae and his mates were younger then and used to have some pretty wild parties so i was always worried they were going to get hurt
