Hehehe, I thought it must have been a one sided conversation.

It has been an interesting read this morning. Here I was thinking I was having one for the country.

I think this will be our last we have both agreed on but not sure about something so permanent yet???

I'd like DH to get the snip sometime in the near-ish future (mind you we haven't discussed it at all as yet ) I don't really wish to get "done" myself. Not because I'm not sure I'm finished after this one, but because I understand it's a much bigger deal for the women than it is for men. We always talked about 4 children being a "nice" number (not really sure why!) and I know that DH would have more kids if I was willing, but I think 3 is going to be it for us. I'll be 36 (DH is 40) when this bub is born (not super old, but still!) and I honestly don't think I can manage another pregnancy, with all the pain issues I have etc. I just feel extremely worn out all the time and pregnancy is very hard on the body (at least it seems so to me ). So we are "done" after this one. Need to start some communication about that soon I think!

thats really sad Wems, i dont think that anyone should be begged or forced etc... into such a decision.
yeah it is Carolyn She is only young and doesn't have children of her own BUT does have 2 lovely teenage boys as step sons

On all accounts his ex is a bit of a b**ch....No long after he had the snip done ......she was caught having an affair and left him and remarried and went on to have a few more kids

Ok thats enough of me being feral Just thought I would throw that in so people do think of it in the long term and realise it is a permenant option

Well Shane has just finished night shift, so I'm going to blame lack of sleep - I read his post and said - ummm, I think you made a mistake lol!!!

Dh will be getting the snip after our 5th child is born later this year. We are both 100% sure that we don't want anymore. There's no way in the world that I will ever get my tubes tied. A huge amount of people seem seem to get bad side effects from it and as a result regret getting it done.

Thumbs down Re: when did you go the permanent option?

Alrighty I've put off posting. But I'm going to.

Firstly, I'm not sure if a man having the big V has the same hormonal effects to him, as I know a tubal ligation can have to a female.

I am an advocate of women NOT going through tubal ligation as a permanent option for contraception.

I had one 3 years ago, and I can say it was the biggest mistake I ever made. BIGGEST.
Yes I know I am among a minority (as I have been told many times). But had I spoke to my regular GP of my thoughts before I had the TL, she would have strongly advised me against it.... Due to all the problems that I have gone through since the first initial cut of my tubes.

The moment the surgeon cut that first tube I had a rush of I don't even know what. Everything went fuzzy, my heart started racing, and I felt so sick. I had just given birth to my youngest child minutes before the TL. Right at that point in time, I didn't realise that my tube had just been cut. It was about 12 months after it clicked what had happened at that very moment.

Following the surgery (for about a week) I went through an emotional hell. My mind and body was a wreck. My heart would race, and skip a beat. I would cry for no reason (it was soo hard not to cry for months following). Panic attacks were my major issue. Then as the months went on I found myself in a pit of depression, along with them panic attacks.

I have abdominal pain. My periods are hell. The first days I try to stay home, I can't go out. If I do have to go out, I try to make the trip as short as possible. They are just so heavy. I never ever had periods like this before having the TL done.

I now deal with pimples. I never had pimples before (hardly any even as a teen). I went through months of really bad acne (about 12 months following my TL was the worst time). I even get them on my upper back now! I'm now dealing with pimples like my 12 year old DS does!

I could go on and on.... but I won't. I think you get the picture.

Having a tubal ligation involves more than just a clamp/cut.... it involves alot more that most women aren't aware of.
