Default when did you go the permanent option?

im talking contraception here

DH has finished his family. I would have more kids if i met some rich toy boy and DH jokes that his ultiamate GF is sterile

(I might just add that our r'ship is very stable so this is highly unlikely to happen)

anwyay- when do we get the snip done? Lily is 9w old now, he would have done it a long time ago- where as i want to wait till she is at least 7-12m old. I really dont know when it should be done.

we are being VERY careful (having had 2 untimed pregnancies) as far as contraception goes (yes we are back on the horse so to speak) so i can wait- but of course he is keen to get it over with.

he wont go to get the referral till i say its fine to go.

wdyt?

Well Grae went to the Drs and got all the info when we took Joe for his newborn check up at about 2 days old .........Yes Joe is #2 out of 7

I say sooner rather then later if you are both certain you are finished As Lascinda #3 was a pill baby so we were being very careful too

No idea when the perfect time is though.......Miss Abby is 9 months old and Grae has said NO more and he still hasn't been to the Dr

My DH went and saw his GP about this a couple of months ago and he gave him the number of a Dr who does the procedure. He indicated that there could be a waiting list , but it might be different here though because we live in rural NSW.

Not until we were both 110% sure it was the right thing for our family.

We talked about it for close to 2yrs before we were both CERTAIN we had completed our family.

Don't do it if you have any doubts at all, find another solution.

And if you do get the snip, be sure to get the follow up tests to be sure it's been successful.

You both really need to be ready and 100% sure of your decision, i think, when you are looking at permanent contraceptive methods
You never want to regret the decision.

You have reminded me to get DH to get himself booked in
LOL

My ex H had the "snip" 8 years ago. It was me that had finished having children.

Now I have a wonderfull new man who "works" and a new little bubba.

So I'd reccomoend who ever has finished getting "snipped" Not that I don't love DD as much as my other children.

Just make sure its what you and you DH want as getting it reversed is very traumatic and not 100% effective.

My DH is very keen to get the snip. He always jokes about going to the vet .

We have two kids and DH is certain there will be no more but I am the one not wanting anything permanent done just yet. I highly doubt there will be any more (unless there is an accident) but I still want the option open in case you know?

I think if you're both absolutely sure then do it. If one of you is even a tiny bit uncertain then leave it a while longer

Nick and I were talking about this just the other night.

He says no more, but I'm still not sure I've finished. We both agreed that we couldn't go through a labour like Brock's again, but I don't want this to decide if my family is complete yet. It's still to soon after having Brock and still emotional.

We have agreed to wait until Brock is at least 18mths old to see if either of us gets clucky and feel the "need" for another bub.

Pete is adamant that he will never ever father another child again (even if he were to end up with someone else of childbearing age at some stage), whereas I know I am not 100% in agreeance... most days I still want another one - not for a couple of years, but still I want one...

BUT despite P being so certain in his own mind and him having read some info I have given him on it, he still hasn't gone any further with it.

Personally I think everyone has to be sure before you even contemplate it.

Oh and our ob actually said when he used to to tubal ligations he would never ever do them within 12months of a new bub being born as mum's weren't emotionally capapble of making that decision

DH got the snip when Kael was about 4 weeks old It was something we planned on doing for a very long time and didn't want to risk anything so had it done asap after Kael was born. I don't regret it, Kael completes our family now.
