I just heard breaking news that they had their first child in 2001, and it died from congenital defects. It just doesn't sit right with me.

Yeah, I watched that too, just a little too much for me. They had a segment here on Today Tonight I think last week about it because they are in SA. Hey I have family in Mt Gambier, wonder if they know them, certainly would now! Interesting they had a child prior to Celeste and it died, knowing that there are so much more risk involved with kids born in this situation that they would have taken precautions, what do they tell her when she is older, that her father is actually her grandfather too, how confused is that child going to be, sorry it just does not sit right with me at all.

everything is totally wrong about this IMO, regardless of the fact that they weren't part of a family unit while she was growing up. it's not like they met and didn't know. they knew how they were related, they knew it was wrong and yet they pursued it. the father even says in that article that he knew it was illegal, but so what? wtf?!?! what about the fact that it's completely immoral to have a sexual relationship with your own child?! and going public is outrageous. I certainly hope they didn't get paid for their interview, or whatever it was they did (since I didn't see anything on tv). |

and this is any of our business because??
totally not my cup of tea. I honestly cannot see why they would take their story to the media, or why the media would run the story (ok, well, we all know about sensationalist media and the public who lap it up), but I don't see it as anyone else's place to judge the situation. I'm sure the media have *not* put forward the entire story. Yet another example of why I do *not* watch mainstream TV.

normally I'd say the same thing. but I doubt they were forced to go public. I doubt they were hounded by anyone to get the story. and yep, maybe the media hasn't put forward the entire story (i tend to take things on those tv shows with a grain of salt anyway, not that I ever watch them, but what I hear, or see on promos) but with a story like that you would have to realise that it's a perfect opportunity to be taken out of context, have your story edited to suit what sensationalism the show/station wants etc. It seems clear that these people know that they have put themselves and their child in a situation that is not the norm and not generally accepted in society, and yet they chose to be public about it. for what purpose? (my guess is money). If they take that step, then they should expect to be judged IMO.

I certainly hope they realise the situation they've put all 3 of those children in. I feel much stronger about that than the actual relationship.
