Default cockroach friendly cockroach deterrant?

Sounds like an odd question but i figured some of you vegos may have an idea. Cockroaches have been attacking my silicon tubes in my coffee machine and it costs money each time they are replaced. So anyone have an idea of how to deter these little critters. its mainly bush cockroaches.

Apparently they don't like vanilla and if you wipe over or spray with a 50/50 solution of water and vanila essence they will be deterred, i've had sucess with this in my draws.

I know I read somewhere that they don't like mint? I used to shove dried mint leaves down into the holes around the pipes in the kitchen to try and keep them out... might work?

From here: COCKROACH REMEDIES
To repel cockroaches, wipe benches, floors, shelves, cupboards, drawers, bin, etc with a mixture of 100ml water to 10 drops of eucalyptus oil. Wipe straight eucalyptus oil around drain holes and external door frames.

Place cucumber peelings and/or bay leaves in cupboards where cockroaches are a problem. Replace when dried out.
