Gift ideas - for nb from toddler & vice versa

I thought it might be nice to do the birthday present thing - have a present from our new bub for Catie and also perhaps Catie and I could make a present for the new baby, but I am not really sure what to make/get. Any ideas here would be great

Bub's EDD is Becky's birthday so it would be nice if we have present from bub for her!

Depends on the age/interests of the older child.

Niamh arrived with a set of trains (Thomas the Tank Engine range) for Connor.

Rowan however gave Connor a Bionicle & Niamh a My Little Pony.

Connor & Niamh made Rowan a rattle - they dyed some rice grains with food dye, then poured them into an old water bottle. I found the idea here - Kids Craft Weekly - Issue 40 - Babies, there are a few other simple ideas of things children can make for a baby, like a simple mobile.

So far:
Mila to baby: a taggy and a little toy rattle she chose at the shops. Since I am having a C/S we are going to make a card together the day before.

baby to Mila: Mila has so much stuff so I have a little activity pack made for hospital. I'll be in for at least 5 days so she will get a little treat each time. So far I have stickers, a new counting book that has flip pages, scrap book with textas.

I was thinking about something more sentimental as well but this child seriously has too much stuff!

Ooh, a taggy - is that like one of those loopyloo things?? Hmmm, Catie and I could make one of those for sure!! Oh and a card!! Forgot that bit!!

Yes, I was thinking something sentimental but it also needs to be practical and able to be used now by Catie - not much use giving her something she just puts n her shelf and looks at, but I also can't really think what to get her if she gets a toy...

If Mila didnt already have enough cuddlies/dolls I would consider one of the knot dolls from bits for bots.

Jacob brought Alex a Magna Doodle (since he always played with the one at playgroup), colouring in book & crayons. Even now when Alex plays with the Magna Doodle he always says 'From Jakey just born'.

We didn't do the baby to toddler gift as I had been telling Em that bubs couldn't do anything so didn't want her confused by it her suddenly being able to give a gift IYKWIM

BUT we did give Em a special pack from Mummy and Daddy for her to play with in the hospital - it had a little doll, some books/pencils and I think some DVD's (dh took his laptop in for her to watch them on). And I think (gosh its only been 2 years but the memory is going!) we also got Em to give G something... just some clothes I think...

We did this. Brock gave Harry a huge Lightening McQueen car, which he got when he first came to the hospital to meet Brock. Harry and Nick went shopping the day after Brock was born and bought Brock a rattle that Harry picked out himself.

I had a brain wave this morning - DD found a B2 doll at an op-shop (for 50c!) and has been asking ever since where B1 is. I might make more of an effort to find one and that can be what bub gives her!! Out of all the toys we could possibly get I think that one would be the best - we're always saying we don't know where he is, well, we could say baby found him for her!!
