Default Nasal drip + dark circles under eyes = food intolerance?

For as long as I can remember, I have had dark circles under my eyes. My mum has them too so I just always thought it was something that I had inherited from her.

Also for quite some time now (like maybe a year or more) I have had a very irritating nasal drip. Usually it's my left nostril & it just drips clear fluid. It seems to be more prominent in the morning & also when I exercise or do anything physical.

Since being around this & other forums, I've heard people refer to 'allergy shiners' & now I'm starting to wonder whether the dark circles & nasal drip might both be related to some sort of food intolerance. I could just google it & waste hours trying to find some sort or reliable info but I thought I would ask here first as I know there are lots of people here with vast amounts of knowledge in regards to food intolerances/allergies.

So, is it possible these things are caused by a food intolerance & if so, where would I start at trying to identify what it is that is causing the problems?

Yes it's possible!

Not sure the best way to go about identifying what could cause it though... One of the wise ones here will know!

I've cut out wheat and gluten, and as of last week, dairy as well - hoping the allergy shiners clear up soon. The 'hayfever' I have had all my life is almost gone since cutting out wheat.

You could register here and look at this table - it lists a billion symptoms and what can cause them in terms of intolerances: Login | Foodintol.com You may be able to tick other boxes in terms of symptoms which might help you narrow it down.

That's interesting Bek. I've had it suggested to me before that I could be dairy intolerant. I can't really remember who it was or how they came to that conclusion as it was back when I was in high school but I remember mum trying to make me stop having cereal for breakfast in the morning because of it

We have just taken Miya off dairy to see how she goes Melissa. She has big allergy shiners, has been clearing her throat a lot.etc etc. It'll take a few weeks to see if it helps though.

I agree... Dairy would be the first thing I would look at...
My flatmate used to get the same symptoms when she drank milk (and she knew she wasn't supposed to have it)
My mum has always said the same thing about dark circles under the eyes being caused by a dairy intolerance.
Squish gets an excema outbreak under his eyes, though its not from dairy... we are currently going through an elimination to try and work out what it is...

I was told that dark circles usually means something blocking the sinuses. Could be dairy or something else.
