Question Go to Dr....... Or Wait It Out?

This is what has been happening with my eldest DD (7 yrs)

Last Tues: Woke up vomiting..........vomited all day until she went to bed.

Last Wed: Woke up feeling better, improved as the day wnet on. Racing around playing and eating normally by the time she went to bed that night.

Last Thurs: Wakes up, eats breakfast, vomits. Feeling much bettter by 10am. Playing around the house. Keep her on boiled water and plain rice.

Last Fri: Wakes up, has breakfast. Falls asleep again in the middle of the floor by 7am. Sleeps for a couple of hours and wakes up fine. Plays all day and eats normally. Has another 1.5 hr sleep in the afternoon.

Sat: Fine all day

Sun: Fine all day

Mon: Fine all day (first day back at school)

Today: Have to wake her up to get her out of bed. Says she is not hungry and vomits again! Argh! Seems to be fine again now.

What is going on????? Has anyone had something like this? Is it worth a trip to the Drs at this point? Is it possible she has picked up another bug at school in 1 day? - but if it was that I doubt she would be feeling Ok again now
She had giardia when she was about 2, could it be that recurring?

BTW - No-one else in the house has been sick. Elijah and I are both getting really over being cooped up at home.

Any imput or experience would be appreciated

I perhaps would take her to the doctors or at least make an appointment.

Seems stange that she seems to get better then comes down with it again.

Fiona we have had a very similar bug in our house over the past few weeks. Emily, Chelsea & myself all had it. There was just vomiting, no diarrhea & with all 3 of us it went away for a 3-4 days & then came back again.

When I spoke to the childcare to tell them that Chelsea was sick again, they told me they have had several children who had a vomiting bug, seemed to get better & then got sick again.

In regards to your question, I would probably just wait it out unless you think she is dehydrated. Hope she gets better soon

That's good to know (well not the sickness part) but that it's not totally strange!

No she's not dehydrated. Not even that sick really. She's up and about now, gotten dressed and is watching tv.

If that is the case then I might just keep her at home and not give her anything too rich or too milky.

because just wean her back into normal eating.

Say have toast for breaky instead of cereal

Maybe take her to the doctors for a blood test for the tiredness. Poor little thing.

It is not good to be sick, improve and be sick again. They say if vomiting for more than 5-7 days take to the doctors but I think that is more for the dehydration.

Well just to add to the saga.......................

Imogen was fine yesterday and went to school.

Woke up at 2am this morning saying she was sick and vomited again

It's 10 days now and she is very flat today. I don't think I can put it off any longer............somethings not quite right and i think we will have to brave the doctor
