Default Question about express post satchels

My darling children got their hands on 2 express post satchels that I bought today & have ripped the barcode stickers off of them I've got them searching for the stickers now but no doubt even if they do find them they will be all mangled & I won't be able to stick them back onto the satchel.

Can I still use the satchels or do I have to go & spend another $17.90 to replace them?

Is it the bit that is just your copy Melissa or is it the whole barcode part.

If it is just the yellow/orange part that is your I would say use them but you won;t have a record of what number they are.

It's the yellow part that I'm supposed to keep & the part of the barcode directly above it that says 'official use'. The top barcode is still there.

I'm worried because underneath the 'official use' barcode it says 'postage cancelled'.

Just found this on the AP website:
Quote:
When, on lodgement of the article, the barcoded strip which indicates postage is no longer intact or has been tampered with, postage at the prevailing rate shall be due on the express post envelope, express post container or express post platinum container and no account shall be taken for any amount of prepaid postage.
Looks like I have to buy some more satchels

I had some that happened to once and the post office dude said it would still be OK, as the stickers were for the staff at the other end to lodge them into their book. I still sent them and they got through OK, so maybe explain to the post office staff what has happened? With mine, the top barcode was still there, just the middle one that was missing iykwim

Really Sue? So maybe there's hope yet.

I guess I'll just take it into the PO tomorrow & ask them.

The girls also peeled the backing of the sticking strip & mangled all that up as well so now I'm going to have to seal them with packing tape
