Default ulcer in mouth-following on from tonsillitis thread

OK just found out why Mila's mouth is sore. She has a huge ulcer on the side of her tongue

Why would she have one....would it be something to do with her tonsillitis and temperature, or the antibiotics? Her tongue is a bit whitish but not blotchy more like she needs a good tongue brushing. As mentioned before her breath stinks.

Any suggestions as to why?

...she wont let me get the bonjela anywhere near her mouth

It's often a sign of being run-down or the immune system under 'attack' so to speak. So I would say it's not directly part of the tonsillitis but more a side-effect of her body working hard to fight it, YK?

Bonjela will kill the c*ap out of her Sarah I had an ulcer once and used it, it stung the bejesus out of me!

I think there's a cream from chemist that doesn't sting. I think it's called Kenalog, it works a treat for me.

I used to get mouth ulcers ALL the time, and it was due to being run down and sick a lot.... so I'd agree with Georgie.

Kenalog in Oralbase is one of the things i used to use too - not sure if its recommended for kiddo's though

Kenalog is great. It's better in conjunction with Savacol (or similar) mouth wash. She wouldn't like either of them though and I don't blame her!

Can you get her to rinse her mouth with warm salty water?

It will heal on its own but Kenalog or somehting like it will heal it quicker. I can't stand Kenalog and its yucky

B gets ulcers when he is teething and also is prone to tonsilitis at the same time. Its a teething thing in this house
