I use one of the recipes from Sue Dengates book Fed Up. I get a lovely creamy result - from memory it's cream, eggs, milk and sugar but she has quite a few dairy free ones in there as well.

we have the krups one.
the ice-cream that comes out of it is beautiful. but it does get a bit hard once you freeze it. nothing a tiny zap in the microwave or sit-on-the-bench defrost doesn't fix. i really like making sorbet with it. also dairy free ice-cream (mango and coconut cream)

I has a Mistral. Doesn't get used much - but we don't eat a lot of ice cream - must get it back out again - it makes the best ice cream!
