Apparently it's never the wrong season for icecream. I have some friends currently living in Alaska and their last update said that most of the fisherman eat icecream at least once a day. It's summer there, but only about 10deg C, so it might as well be winter!

Can't help with the icecream maker though, sorry!

I've got the basic Sunbeam one -I think it's called Mr Frosty? About $50 from memory. It's great! We make ours from scratch and even my DH was impressed at the quality

I have the easiyo one. I have made both chocolate and vanilla. The flavour is yum but the texture always seems a bit icy, not really smooth.

Dont know about other icecream makers but I like the easiyo one because its just a 1 litre container and no other contraptions to fill my kitchen with

We also make the Easi-Yo one and it is nice DH adds honeycomb and it is very wicked indeed.

I agree with Sarah - not creamy smooth but yummy and stores easily.

I have a Delonghi ice cream churner. It's easy to use and makes perfect, creamy smooth icecream...no icy bits! We love it but don't get around to using it that often. The main reason is that it's pretty time consuming to make the custard base that all ice cream is made from, but that would be the case with any ice cream machine! It's worth it though, the ice cream is so yummy!

Thanks everyone!

The easy yo mix sounds great, but alas not for me as I'm dairy, wheat, egg, soy, nut and seed free with this damn diet for scotty and thats why I was asking about a ice cream maker cos I'm desperate for sweet things atm since dinner has to be boring I'm interested in making rice milk ice cream which I have a recipe for but I'm too lazy to mix it freeze it, then re beat it and re freeze it and Sue Dengates cookbook says you can use a ice cream maker.

When I googled it there were quite a few on the market and I didn't know which one to choose.

Oh and I actually agree kirrily, its actually (in my book) never the wrong season for ice cream just evryone else I know seems to think it is lol.

Trish try nice rice pudding made with rice milk - quite yummy in this weather if you aren't allergic to rice as we are

All I used to do was chuck a handful of rice & a carton of rice milk in the slow cooker & add sugar to taste.... very easy & yummy

ETA no idea on ice cream makers though!
