Default What do you do or what have you done?

Just me being a sticky beak

Most of us are mums here, some work, some dont so I am wondering are you trained in something? What is your job now? If you dont work but want to again oneday what will you want to do?

Me:

I have a Bachelor of Science (conservation, zoology, ecology)

I have never used it (except for volunteer work) because I travelled overseas for 2 years straight after uni. We got home and started saving straight away to buy a unit, got married and fell pregnant with Mila. While at uni and overseas and when we got back I worked in retail (including Jigswaw, Bally, Platypus Shoes)

After Mila I eventually went back to retail casually. I am a SAHM now with a little business which is more for fun and to keep me busy.

I would love to be employed in what I trained in but I see it more likey that I will work with my DH in his business.

So tell me?

I worked as a primary teacher for 10 years then got my post grad in Early Childhood. I taught part time after Miya was born. After Toby was born we decided I would take a break from teaching to be home with the kids

Oh fun!

Me, I have a Master degree in Translation & Interpreting, also did some units in education & TESOL (teaching eng. as a second language) but didn't finished the course

I did some work with a private library services business (it's a very small business) for a few years during & after uni. Got married, looked for a job but didn't find anything, bought a house and fell pregnant with Becky. I started working from home for my previous boss for a little while but stopped it altogether early this year. I just didn't feel like doing the same thing again.

Now I'm a full time SAHM I'd love to do something from home again, but I'm not sure what that will be. I also want to work at our local library and do some part time jobs when my youngest is a bit older.

I have no idea what I want to do in a long term though...

I'm not offically trained in anything but I have worked for a bank for the last 10years.

I work part time 21 hours a FN and the hours fit in so well for school that I don't want to give it up. I can take the kids to school and pick them up .

I have actually as of yesterday joined the ambulance service as a volunteer so lots of training to do. I even get to be on call tomorrow as a total observer so no touching or doing anything just looking

I would like to do something different eventually but not until the kids are older and it won't matter so much about me working beyond school hours, not sure what I want to do but for now doing a bit of study and working and knitting I am happy with.

Joining the ambulance is giving me the opportunity to do something so out of my comfort zone that I feel it will give me the challenge that I need.

I know my job and sometimes it seems a bit mundane but everyday is different and I get to talk to people and I work with really great people that it does make it nice to go to work.

Not sure if I even answered your question Sarah

I am trained in Aged Care and worked for eight years before I had James. I mainly worked in the special care unit with residents with Alzheimers and Dementia. I really enjoyed it at the time.

When Laila is older I would like to try something new though. The toll on my back over those years wasn't the best (as I already had back trouble) so I am thinking of a different type of job. I'm not sure what at this stage. Maybe something along the lines of medical reception or the like. MIL wants me to be a School Services Officer - thinks I would suit that job really well. We'll see. Will be staying home with Laila for a another year and a half at least - maybe more

I so also have a bit of a hobby making and selling beaded jewellery. Mostly get orders from friends. I also have a friend who is an author and from time to time (like right now!) she gets jobs for me to make beaded bookmark tails for her latest novel releases. Last year I did 100 for Harper Collins Publishers and this time I have 300 to do for Burnside Library.

Keeps me out of mischief

I'm an accountant.

I have commerce/art degree, majoring in accounting (obviously!), journalism and indonesian. And 3/4 of a MBA, but that has had to be put on hold because I can't afford it now!!

I have worked as an accountant for the last eight years, before going on maternity leave early this year. I'm trying to set up my own accounting/ bookkeeping business at home so I don't have to leave my little girl early next year and go back to work. Fingers crossed!!!

I'm also enrolled in a grad. dip. of secondary and tafe teaching, which I will start next year. Yep - I'm a glutton for punishment and love studying!!!
