cool, thanks guys. Charlie is almost 17kg and its her height i'm concerned about. I think the hi liner might be the go as it allows for a 5 pt harness configuration.

Here are the rules coming into affect soon and an explanation.
Belly 2 Baby - Proposed Laws for Baby Car Seats & Child Restraints Charlie will be 4 in December and is definitely too tall for her current seat so I'm fine with the Hi-Liner option especially since you can have a 5 point harness.

I should say, my eldest is still in his car seat for his dads. It is the turn a tot and he is 101cm tall so it might be a good option. Still looks like he will be in it for a while yet too.

Aren't they supposed to move out of carseats once their head is above the back of it? We have Maxi-riders in my car - but in DH's car we have a forward facing seat which Emma sits in, and a convertible for Brandon. Brandon's about 100cm tall and his head is over the back of the seat (not just a little - but more like half his head is above the back of the seat). I've been trying to find a cheap option - I don't want to buy another forward facing seat as they are 4 in December - so I wanted to buy a convertible booster - like the maxi rider - without the maxi rider cost - then Emma can go into that, and Brandon into the forward facing seat - at least for a while. Especially considering Brandon only weighs around 12kg and Emma is 15 - 16kg. Why are bloody car seats on special all the time and no booster seats! (well the convertible type - not the crappo foam ones).

Julie, it's once their eyes are above the shell of the seat/headrest. I think TRU have the Secure convertible booster on sale currently
![]() I think we had a particularly short convertible for Alastair for him to outgrow it so soon, but he is nearly 100cm tall now anyway - and 17kg - so I couldn't justify a new convertible (he just fits in the different convertible we bought for the baby, height-wise, but the amount he eats he'll be shooting up again soon).
