Default Appropriate Attire for a Funeral?

Really 'duh' question....
I have to go to a funeral tomorrow.
I haven't been to a lot of 'full on' church funerals. Its a catholic funeral, not saying it makes a lot of difference, but I have only been to one other one and I can't remember what I wore, but the family is really really strict catholic so I don't want to dress innappropriately and offend someone .
Am I supposed to wear all black? Or is colour ok?
Obviously I don't mean bright shiny happy colours
I am really struggling to find something to wear...
Help!

A bit of colour is fine J...
Nowadays they aren't so strict on wearing black but you should dress in a way that shows respect to the deceased... If that makes sense?

I would wear black skirt/pants and a plain colour (I wore dark green) top. And simple black shoes. That would be okay for a formal church funeral (that's what I wore to a church funeral last week) I think. If you think modest colours and styles you should be right.
I haven't been to a catholic funeral though.

Definitely something sombre but not always black. I have a grey skirt suit that I have worn many times - and I have been to 3 day long funerals before

Wear dark modest clothing. No cleavage, nothing showing knees

Yep, I'd keep it to 'sombre'/muted colours, and simple, modest styles.

At a catholic funeral, you will find that all the family & close friends will wear black head to toe. Most other people will wear dark/drab colours & 'modest' clothing styles as Sarah & Georgie suggested.

I guess black it is...
It is DH's grandfather, we got to see him just before he passed away, but we have not had contact with DH's parents or elder sister in over 4 years, they have never met our children I am dreading tomorrow... but it is something we have to do...
Thanks for all the answers girls my entire wardrobe is on the bed and now I can't go to bed until I clean it up I think I have decided on an outfit, though will probably change my mind by the morning...
