According to the local organic guru in Dubai, it's still perfectly legal to use growth hormones for chickens that will be used for meat over there. A whole 'fresh' chook at the supermarket costs about the equivalent of AU$1.60. He said the only way they can sell them for that and make a profit is fast turnover (=LOTS of growth hormones)...the average age of a chicken slaughtered for meat over there is 19 days!
 We only eat organic chicken and eggs there.
