Default Victorian weekend away with kids

I need help deciding or researching where we can go with 2 boys under 3.

We are going away on the 23rd (which is our 5th wedding anniversary) and staying somewhere (anywhere) for the weekend.

I thought about the snow - so many places are booked out and I really don't want to spend over $500 in accommodation for us. We are willing to drive 3-4 hrs.

So help pls!!!!

I liked Daylesford, even for kids. There are nice grown up things to do and a cute little puppet shop in town that you can make your own puppets and put on a little show. As for snow, its pretty cold for little ones but Kai did love it for the 10 mins we were at snow yesterday.

What about Mt Dandenong. Its near Melbourne. There are heaps of little walks and if its cold enough it might snow.

We're off to Lake Mountain (Marysville) on the 24th Kat

We're staying here - The Cumberland Marysville and Villa Day Spa - Conference, Day Spa Massages, Dining, Marysville, Victoria . They have a snow play package for 2 nights for $699 which included the kids, dinner one night, breakfast both mornings, access to their amenities and $50 snow money. I know it's a bit over your budget but we were sold on the almost all inclusive package! There were heaps of cheaper options there too.

Otherwise what about renting a holiday house in Port Fairy or Lakes Entrance??

That sounds ace Tracee I would love to do something like that. Marysville is beautiful as well regardless of the snow feature

LOL....Bright is right next to where my SIL's parents live.

I thought about Daylesford as we went there for our 1st anniversary....wasn't sure if there were any kid friendly things there - only mum friendly Funny - that's when we decided to first TTC.

Mt Dandenong is like 15 minutes from me ......but will look into that definitely. We've been up there heaps of times with the kids for lunch.

Lake mountain was DS1's first snow trip LOL...will look into that too. And that price sounds ok for all of us. I got quoted $540 per person for 2 nights at Falls Creek Hotel

Yeah we love it up there Suz. It's still close enough to home and we're not into skiing just yet (tho DH wants Abbey to have a go) so Lake Mountain is perfect. They've been getting some awesome snow too!

How about Halls Gap/ Grampians??

I have always loved holidaying there. There are great short walks, lots of opportunities to see wildlife including koalas, kanagroos, echindnas and lots of birds, and at this time of year, I'm sure there is cheaper accomodation options.

I'm taking Macy there for her first camping holiday during the September school holidays and I can't wait (such good childhood memories for me!!)
