Default Those who "FLY" - your control journals or something similar?

I attempted this a couple of years ago and it got a little out of hand and then was never completed and changed etc, etc.... So I want to set one up again, or either buy/set up something similar. So I am after what you did and what you have in yours. Any ideas would be appreciated and of great help. I have section ideas in mind, but don't want to go overboard with it. Sorry if this is in the wrong area mods . thanks all that can help with suggestions and ideas....

Mine's still an empty folder...

I have plans to start one very soon, or I'm not going to cope for the six months that DH will be deployed. I can see major CHAOS arriving as his plane flys out if I'm not organised. I have seven weeks to get something done....

well mine was stolen (musta been good ay jk) but I have some pics from before and will come back and explain how I did mine. Must admit, having to do it from scratch would have had me with an empty folder or a folder being redone many many many times - yep, the perfectionist thing.
So I bought my CJ... and I'll tell you the rest from there...

I would suggest doing the steps of flylady to set up your control journal

Control Journal

Then I just try to stick with fly zones

I searched all over (we lived in a small town at the time) and couldn't find something that I really liked that wasn't way overpriced (as in $50+ for a faux leather zippered binder).... I really wanted something that zipped up but it wasn't to be I guess.

What I did was use a "ring" style folder, with clear plastic sheets at the back, looseleaf paper, with dividers making different sections... I had one "menu/shopping list/food ideas" section, a "bills/receipts" section, a "family birthday dates/christmas/birthday present ideas" section... and a few others that I can't recall right now.
I loosely based it on the one that she had on her website that you could print off (a pdf file I think), I'm not sure if that's still there?

I also had a little notepad glued to the front to write to-dos and shopping lists on.
And I sticky-taped a pen to a piece of string and tied that to the rings, so that I would always have a pen. (where do they all disappear to??)
Classy it wasn't ... but it worked!

eta you can buy the Control journal papers without having to buy the zip up thing. I'll get the links and names 'proper' shortly. You can also print off the pages as Sarah has linked to, and it's in the book which you can borrow from the library.
FLYlady has also said initially she hadn't done up the CJ papers for sale because she said it's all there free on the site and in the book but so many people asked for them so she did. You still don't have to buy them iykwim.

Oh I should say:

I use this and have my control journal portion at the front on A4 paper.

Organise bills – easy filing system for bills & invoices | kikki.K

Then I also use this for receipts

I have the my organiser and I do use it but not to its full potential but it does work to keep everything where you need it and the calender is great.

I got mine from officeworks for $50 and the refills are $30 I think so each year you just buy the refills

I'm looking at getting one of those my organiser folders. On the website they've got a mini one too which looks good

Personally I don't like the flylady thing - too many emails. I prefer to do on section of the house each day, takes about an hour/day once I've got that area sorted
