Default How long do you intend to use wool?

For those of you that have alot of longies, shorties etc that use them for clothes (not just for over nappies)?

How long do you think you will be using them for? Or for those that used to but no longer do, what age were your kids when you stopped?

Jess still wears shorties and longies at 3. Brielle is 8 and took to wearing a pair of longies as capris for a while - she loved them.

I wish I had the wool and the patience to knit myself a pair of longies!
I reckon DS will be in longies until he is so tall that I couldn't be bothered knitting them, or until he objects.

What Tanja said Unfortunately both my kids are big & tall - can't imagine knitting Emma a pair of woolies! (Actually she wouldn't wear them - texture issues.) Alastair still has a pair that fits him, but only the one + a soaker. I wouldnt buy 'fancy' ones for him though, because theyre either for bedtime, or when he goes out of the house he's into everything & getting dirty.

My 4 year old still wears them but I did knit her some out of acrylic due to cost and damage issues

i've stopped using them on Marcus as clothing (still use at night as a cover), mostly because (a) he outgrew everything and I couldn't be bothered knitting more boy stuff now that I can knit smaller, cute baby girl stuff and (b) fear of damage. he's pretty rough, and I wouldn't let him wear them outside if he did wear them, so not worth it for just inside. I've moved on to other knitted items for the boys though

the cutoff age here is after they train at night, wool pants just seem babyish to me then.
i did buy jade (6) a funky pair of bumjumper pants from fully wooly but i tend to dress her in pretty trendy stuff instead of a cool hippy
eta bree too really (3.5). so roughly 3-4 yrs here so far

Lily has two pairs of longies that she still wears, they were knit specifically for no nappies and she's worn them last winter and this one. One are a gorgeous pair of MK custom Lily Rainbow ones, so very very special and the other pair are ones I've knit from 4BF merino dyed by Rach from Stitch Sista and are flares; so both very cool.

She usually wears them with her keds or connie hightops and a longer smocky style tshirt (yk the sort that are trendy atm) so she looks very groovy and still gets heaps of comments about how cool her pants are at nearly 3.5.

I have enough wool to be able extend both for next winter; they're just getting too short now.
