It's school holidays here (WA)... does everyone else have holidays now too?
What are you all doing for the holidays? We can't go anywhere because DH is working, but we are having "holidays" at home... going on heaps of fun excursions etc ![]() We just climbed Castle Rock with all the kids, and our friends (who also have 4 little kids) and it was sooo fun! It was a beautiful sunny climb up and down, but it hailed at the top! So bizarre and so fun! Here are some photos of our day: SugarFish

mmm mostly just letting them play and come up with their own stuff to do - and they don't lack for ideas.
with a playdate or two thrown in for good measure either at the friend's house or here (Brooke did clay sculpture at her friend's place yesterday )and we have been gardening heaps - so plenty of planting and poo lol (which Jemma ate her share of )getting some strawberry plants today, the kids have also been checking the mulberry tree every day coz it's so loaded it's branches are straining, just waiting for the fruit to ripen. oh and heaps of baking just enjoying the 'not having to' go anywhere bit and I've been sewing and doing some decluttering and organising might be off somewhere next week not sure yet (camping). oh of course, the niggling and arguments and whatever and the jumps that got set up in the backyard for bike riding lol so then the stacks and scrapes etc I LIKE school holidays! lol

Last week Garry was away for work so I had friends + kids over one day for some adult conversation. We also did library Storytime, and the Royal Show. Emma and I planted some seeds and did some gardening, too.
Next week Emma's going down to the in-laws in Mandurah and I'll probably try to get some stuff done here without the constant interruptions of school runs. Although I do have an appt on Mon & one on Wed - I'm getting my braces off!

Woohoo Georgie - bet that will feel good!
![]() Our holidays have just finished too... The older kids go to vacation care 3 days a week at our local PCYC - not only coz we still have appointments regardless of the holidays but also due to the fact that they love it there... rather well equipped centre (I'm sure Miss H would go all 5 days IF she was allowed ). C went to Camp Quality main camp this last week. He caught the bus at 9am on Monday and I picked him up at 4pm yesterday (bus was 50 mins late... ). Seems like he had a great time again... will need to text his companion to thank him too.. . He is not impressed that they had a party in the Big Brother House though... guess I don't blame him. ![]() Was certainly interesting only having the younger 3... considering 2 look very little like me! Back to school Monday... and I have to chase up a panel beater.... ![]()

ah yes Georgie that will feel awesome and wierd and awesome all at the same time!
![]() Sheesh Carmen still busy lol at your place but some good events in there as well hey, although bummer on the panel beater - bingle or something else? (nosey aren't I!) Skipped the Show (again) - I refuse almost on principle now lol although one of the nurses at DH work bought some showbags for the kids (she offered, we hadn't even thought about it) which was lovely of her and the kids were stoked enough with that. I'm putting aside what we might have spent on entry at the Royal Show, to run a muck at the Spring Fair at school instead - only 5 kids in any line at one time mostly lol off to check your blog pics Ruth.

Yeh, it is expensive, Kristy, esp. as the kids get bigger. This was the first year I had to pay entry for Emma, and since Garry didn't come it wasn't too bad.
I love it though, always have done since I was a child, so we'll probably still go. We don't go overboard on the spending once in (do all the free stuff, lol, and bring food of our own) but it does still add up.

yeh that's prob part of it for me - grew up in a country town LOVED the Tropical Festival we had and it was so much of a different experience (more friendly, less crowds but simpler) so I guess I don't miss it kinda thing. Different when it's a tradition and it's only once a year. We might go one time in the future.
When we did go last time, like you guys we did all the 'show' stuff - the animals and the displays and so on, and took our own food and all the rest and spent a smaller time in the glitzy/lights section and gave ourselves a limit on showbag stuff and spent a while choosing from the book guide before we went so we'd know. Just to have gone once (or twice) and yep we've done that kinda thing. Wouldn't bother me if we never went again but it's different because it's never been a tradition for us, like it has for you, so can totally understand that. |
