Seatbelts really do work, even in bulldozers
Don't know what made me think of this right now, but anyway...
My brother works for his inlaws who own an earth moving company. A few weeks ago, his brother-in-law rolled the bulldozer off the side of a cliff. It rolled about 14 times and of course it's completely trashed. Chris was wearing a seatbelt which is probably the only thing that saved him.
He had his front teeth knocked out, his head cut open, broken ribs and burns around his waist from the seatbelt where it was holding him in as he was tumbling down the hill.
His phone (and everything in the cabin) fell out on the way down and he was working on his own so he had to walk 4kms back to his car. He stopped at two farm houses once he was in the car and no one was home, so he had to drive 40kms back to town to get some help.
So he is a lucky lucky boy! I suspect that a lot of the guys wouldn't have worn a seat belt while they were driving the dozer. Of course someone would have gone looking for him when he didn't show up at the end of the day, but it would have been many hours before anyone would have even thought that something was wrong, so he was lucky he could walk too.
Anyway, just a little reminder that seatbelts work, even when you're driving something as big as a bulldozer!
