I started my blog just for my extended family to keep them updated on what we get up to, but it has grown from there to be more varied in what I post about... I am always surprised at how many people visit and leave comments. Its very motivating and keeps me writing posts
 I love reading other people's blogs and always try to comment, because I know how lovely it is to be encouraged

My blog started off as a news section for my website and an easy way for me to post programming projects, tips/tricks and bugs/errors discovered. It has now expanded into a handy place for me to post photos and life news along with my craft projects.
I should probably split it into tech and personal, but I like it as one and I have friends who are interested in both.

This is an interesting thread. I really enjoy reading everyone's blogs. So keep updating us!
I've just started a blog. I started it as an experiment because my sister and her hubby are going overseas next year. I suggested that this might be a better way of keeping in touch (rather than really looooong newsletter/emails that she has sent previously). So at the moment my blog is private just to show her how it works.

Mine is mostly for business kind of things. I don't like people keeping tabs on my personal life, so I try to stick to work related things but of course there is a bit of personal info on there.

Mainly so I can keep track of what i've done! Otherwise I tend to think i'm lazy and have produced nothing because I forget what i've done once it's put away. Plus it's lovely to get compliments-I don't have any crafty friends IRL to show off to.
You can put StatCounter on your blog pretty easily if you'd like to know how many people are really reading  Whoops, someone's already suggested that. *blushes*
