I had both boys at the Mater in Brisbane.. the leaflets they give you on preparing etc state that they have a 'no cloth' policy.. I took cloth anyway, they didn't say anything about Squish, but when I had Pickle they protested, I protested back and informed them that my previous son is allergic to disposables and that the women in my family are allergic to disposable pads (which is all true) my DH was there almost all of the time so just took the buckets with him... my baby my choice!!!!

can i suggest that you be assertive and not aggressive when the time comes to discuss it
and do it on a personal level - i asked when i had my midwife phonecall - they said they didn't think it would be a problem if the actual midwives caring for me were ok with it - which they were (i needed help for the first 24hours to change nappies/pads)
greg brought in a new bucket each day
mostly we got interest

I cant see it being an issue if you are bringing them in and out....... unfortunately QLd has a big catch up to do with other states in regards to having babies!!!

i wasnt in long enough for it to be an issue! (I did do disposable though!)

I had Arabella at Sunnybank Private and they were so accomodating for me. Arabella went into her just hatched nappy straight from surgery and then they were putting her in terry flats with a disposable over them (they had no covers) while she was in NICU, once she transferred to the Royal though there only used sposies and she was only changed 4 times a day unless she had poo'd. I was disgusted when I first found out but after seeing how she reacted to even me just touching her face I then understood why they just dont handle the sick bubbas its too much for them

Ok that was a bit OT but Sunnybank was awesome, again a private hospital so really they do what they are told pretty much LOL

My hospital (I am booked into a pvte) makes you sign a declaration that you would adhere to baby friendly principles, but that doesn't include nappies... If they saw a dummy they would gasP!!! Writing the above makes it clear, I am sure my hospital would be happy if I wrote the above.

with ds no one ever mentioned cloth ie where you took them to be washed, as I know they do supply them... hmmm
