    Default Anyone have an iMac?

We are just looking at them.

Thought we might buy one today or tomorrow and claim it with the Education Tax Refund (you get back 50%) or up to $375 per school age child if you get FTB Part A.

I know that we will get back the $375 for Ben and Charlotte, so that is already $750 and I think we might also get it for Jacob (full time pre-primary), so it would be really helpful.

The iMac's look great. It's amazing that they have no tower and that the speakers, DVD player etc are all built into the very thin screen! Any thoughts?

I have a Macbook. Love it. Once you get a taste for Mac you never go back
We've had Macs for years, more stable and a lot more secure. No viruses!!! Yipee.

We have the house networked though an Apple Airport and run three Mac laptops, 1 pc Laptop (bloody annoying machine we're always having to fiddle with!), Apple TV and one iMac, which is DH's machine

oh an iMac lover here. I hate PC's now they are stupidly annoying things. Once you get the hang of the mac (which really doesnt take long) as Tracy said you will never turn back.

and you can get the microsoft office programs for it so its all compatible with the PC users.

I'm mad keen to do the same so we can claim it on the educational tax refund but I don't think I can talk DH into it ATM.

Am loving the macbook so much too!

so much easier, more sensible operating systems. our MacBook, which is the newer of the two, can be opened in either a Mac or windows environment.

We have just got an iMac because we got a really good price. I haven't really used it yet - we have a Toshiba laptop which gets the most use. Stu has used the iMac a little and really likes it so far.

Hmm... sounding good! So would it be worth getting the 24" with 4 GB memory and 640GB harddrive? It's $500 extra... otherwise we'd just be getting the 20" with 2GB memory and 320GB harddrive for $1999.

We would like to be able to put it on a desk in the corner of the family room and also use it for watching DVD's. Are they good for watching DVD's? That is why we are considering the 24"...

It is a nice little unit, but in most cases, macs are a lot more expensive then PCs for the specifications and a lot of the programs I run are windows specific so I've never been interested. The screen is nice and would be good for dvds, just remember it is shiny so will reflect any lights in the area.

Work bought me an iMac a couple of weeks ago so my desk now has 2 monitors connected to my PC and the iMac. I still use my PC for most of my work and the mac just for iPhone dev at the moment. However it might grow on me. It is probably better listening to the others on family use.

Go for the 24". We have it and love her- her name is frally. We watch movies and tv on her and shes great, even comes with a remote! Well worth every $. Like the others have said macs are such joys to use, the operating systemis well thought out and everything just works. I think you'd be super happy with any imac but we think we get the extra value out of the 24".

After being a PC girl all my life I just went and bought myself an iMac. Via the apple store I got a refurbished one, except it was brand new. I managed to save hundreds all because someone either changed their mind and sent it back or it had a minor blemish. I got the 24" with 4gb and 640g hard drive and I have to say I will never ever go back to a PC after this. It is absolutely brilliant and suprisingly easy to use.

Have you had a look under specials? I have never yet heard of anyone having a problem with a refurb and it'll save you money.
