    Default bluish lips?

Eamon had a runny nose last week and yesterday evening came down with 40deg temps. Panadol has helped.

...however last night I noticed his lips had a bluish tinge and now they are like that again.

He is is good spirits. His chest sounds clear but his breathing is noisy (out his mouth)

    Any clue?

it can be a sign of low oxygen saturation so might be worth getting checked out just to be safe I think. Does it last for long? Are his fingertips ( under nails) a normal colour?

    fingers look fine

It looks a bit better now

He is sort of panting....but though that was just because of the fever.

    Hes damn happy though???

Isn't it weird when they are happy but you know they are sick!!!

I was told when they are panting like that you should get them checked, but that is from an infant with chronic asthma experience. it could be due to the temp as that is quite high, but you said the panadol is helping keep that down, so I would ring the hospy or DR just to get their thoughts. best to be safe

Count the number of breaths he is having in a minute so you can let them know. Or just count for 15 secs and times by 4 which can be a bit easier to manage.

    No idea sorry.

    But I agree with Tasha.

Cam had a similar thing as a baby. His feet and hands would go blue for no reason what-so-ever. No-one could give me an answer for that either. it sttopped happening after 12 mths.

i would give dr or hospital a call. Especially if breathing sounds not so normal. Hope he is on the mend soon.

I been told by Dr/Hospital that cuase of the high temps this what causes it it shuts down the lips and fingers feet there frozen with Aaliyah when ever her temps goes up still to this day does it, but yes Oxygen too could be low but i have my bet on Temps that are cauing it.

Call the advice line Sarah hope poor E gets better soon

Yup I agree with Kristie, when W had a super high temp his extremities went a funny colour, i panicked thinking menigitis, but the doc said no. But they can also get blue lips from not enough air getting in. Amy had that with an asthma attack. Glad you are having him checked out
