Default When do you add a spare spring to the Amby hammock?

    As per title.

I think James is too heavy for just one spring, funny because he's only 8kg but I couldn't find information on the Amby's website. Anyway, regardless of the weight limit I just know he's getting too heavy because when I rock him, the bottom of the hammock is touching the ground especially on the head (which means his head weights more than the rest of his body ). The problem is when adding another spring, it's very hard to bounce the whole hammock. The whole thing feels very heavy and stiff that I have to push it down so hard to get the hammock to bounce. The rhythm isn't the same and James isn't happy

Does anyone have this experience? Why is the hammock becoming so heavy I barely can rock it? And what do I do?

Supposed to be when bub is over 12kg Ying. Try retying the top so the head is elevated more than the feet...

Mine never got to that size before moving them into my bed so I never had to change the spring over.

His head shouldn't be lower than his body, you may have it set up wrong or placing him up too high in it, if that's the case. As Carmen suggested, I'd retie the side ties tighter to bring each end up a bit higher.

I tend to just jiggle gently rather than rock the hammock, it only needs a gentle motion to give the soothing effect, and doesn't need to move up and down too much

I'm not sure how much Toby weighs, he's +9kg though and has his day sleeps in it still. It does sit closer to the ground, (but that's not a bad thing for that age when they can sit up in it) but can still be jiggled without touching the ground.

If you're not happy with it though, don't use it. I know in past threads where you've had concerns about the hammock there have been some good suggestions about what you could move onto

Yeah I tried retying it and it seems a bit better. I know his head shouldn't be lower than his body but sometimes he ends up like that, doesn't seem to bother him though

I started it off wrong. I rocked him a little bit so now he's used to that sort of motion. Today I tried to just jiggle the hammock and he seemed fine

I wish I could just stop using it but he doesn't have the same idea He doesn't like the rocking cradle I got from overseas (Becky took to it immediately but I moved her out of the Amby a lot earlier). I spent hours getting him to sleep and I feel it seems like a waste of time... Becky had to wait for me to finish with him when I could have got to her earlier if using the Amby.

I don't know...I'm quite sleep deprived these days so I'd rather get him to sleep with as little dramas as I can, but I'm very nervous about the transition....

    Hugs Ying.

It can be so so so hard when you have 2 totally different children. Ashton is very different from the other 2, they were much the same.

For me though, moving Ashton into his cot more often was not only for sleep reasons (since when he sleeps with me I am booby on tap all night and he is a terrible bed hog keeping me up all night) but also because the transition later was leaving me nervous.
Jaidan was a co sleeper until he was 14 months, then I moved him because Chase came along. But I still had to cuddle him to sleep until he was 18 months. So this time I knew that moving Ash was something I wanted to do earlier rather than later.
Possibly it is time to move him, and put up with the carry on now while he is little. I really think it's harder to get an older baby/young toddler to do something different than what they are used to, then it is to tough it out now and make the change.

But sleep deprivation is horrible, I know what you are going through and why it would all seem SO daunting right now
