    I'm watching some doco on ABC about parenting in the animal world...

    So there's this one spider that, for some reason (missed that bit), the babies bite the mum all over, inject her with an enzyme that does something to her inners (dissolves them in some way) and eats her that's the ultimate sacrifice!

    or you might prefer to be an emu. she lays the eggs, he looks after them till they've hatched and as babies, while she's off doing the hanky panky with as many males as she can!
