I (like most) am really just playing at being a WAHM. It is a glorifed hobby, but to me the W means a income that makes a difference.
I Partially did it coz I was a) Stupid enough to think it would reduce the cost of Emilys nappies (buy in bulk) b) Stupid enough to think I would make money c) Didnt want to return to work yet as Em has a medical condition. This was an excuse that kept DF and my parents quiet for a while.

I've worked from home from time to time.
The first time was before kids and I made a deal with work that I work from home. Didn't work out at all. I ended up working more hours 'cause I didn't have any boundaries about starting and finishing. So the minute I got up, I was working right up until I went to bed (really late). My reason to WAH, was so I could oversee some renovations at my house (which I didn't end up doing 'cause I was even more busy with working). The times I've WAH after kids was more 'cause I was bored and needed to have a challenge. So its not so much a hobby but more to challenge myself every now and then.

I WAH for a few reasons really
- I love making nappies/covers etc, I love the feeling of accomplishment when you put that final snap on and say...aaahhh, all done. That's not something I find I can do with everyday things around the house, I clean up and 5 minutes later the kids have made more mess. - It funds my nappy buying and I use any profits on the kids, be it clothes or their activites like swimming, hey-dee-ho or sing and sign - It lets me be at home with my girls, I don't plan to work outside the home til the kids are a lot older. - It gives me some time to myself, where my mind can switch off from the everyday things around me
