Many women get it for years.
I had milk from 18 (because of the contraceptive injection) but also stopped at 3 months due to lack of supply. But I can still squirt! lol. I reckon I will have it for years to come. It has been about 6 years so far.

You might be able to express it if you tried, try by hand. The Australian Breastfeeding Association have info on re-lactation (starting again when you thought it was too late).

Others have mentioned things that first came to my mind. Perhaps a hormonal change from your period or pregnany, from a hormonal form of contraception, more stimulation to your breasts, or just milk that has always been there that you didn't realise you had.
Are you interested in relactation?

Certain medications can increase prolactin, are you on any medications?
If not, then you should contact the ABA like Fiona suggested it's not too late to start up again. You can wean on to the breast the same way as you wean on to a bottle.

I have had 3 kids 18 and 20 mths apart and mine has never dried up between babies lol , Paris my 4 yr old was BF for 8 wks only same with her brother and it never fully dried up I could still get drops year down the track
, Abby is 9 mths now and still has a before bed feed so I still have milk lolI agree with Genie it is possible to relactate its bloody hard work from what I have read but very possible , I did consider it with my 4 yr old when she was 6 mths old as the reason I gave up was due to supply and her being premmie and mega sleepy so weight gain was a big issue . Hey BTW wern't you in my Due in August Group on EB Cheers Renee Last edited by Reneej; 03-06-2006 at 12:18 AM. |
