It is common for people who become vegetarian while young (ie at school) to just eat vegies, pasta etc (carbs) and not get enough iron, protein and energy from the food they eat.
When I became vegetarian as a teenager my mum - who was vegan when I was a little child at one stage - made me read the section from diet for a small planet that explains how to get essential amino acids (i think?) from combining grains so as to get proper proteins. I always eat dairy and eggs (dairy pretty much every day even though i have soy on my cereal) so that is not a big deal, and these days the advice is that you don't have to combine the grains in one meal - across the day is okay - but nevertheless it was helpful to have this understanding of how to get appropriate protein frm vegetable sources. When I was little and had pet rabbits I would stand next to thier enclosure and say "when you get old mr. rabbit we're going to EAT you
" ![]() I was such a caring loving child The universe is getting its revenge now though as Kaia is like a minime from that age!We eat meat, though I try to stick to lower environmental impact animals like roo and chicken. The milk we buy is from an organic/biodynamic farm.
