Jeni - I tend to disagree with you on this one - I think the parent who is making the most nappy changes should have the choice about what system they are using and the other go along with it
JMHO Because knowing men they will choose disposables for 'their' use then they will leave them for 'us' to little squirt, dispose of etc etc which is not 100% their fault if they are working full-on but would probably happen none-the-less ![]() Bec.

I did think about making him some Bamboo ones actually! I am pretty sure it's the smell of the hemp cobined with the dirty nappy that he doesn't like! I can't help the contents of the nappy but maybe the Bamboo will help get rid of some of that wet neppy smell that he hates (but like I said, it seems to be with most of her hemp nappies and it's not like I let her sit in them till she's drenched so maybe it's just the actual fabric he doesn't like the smell of??)
I think I'll also have a look at the washing forum and see what I can do to make sure I minimise any smell they might be holding onto...other than that he'll just have to get over it! Marnie

lol My dp is good with changing but i do a few things for him
i put all the bits into each nappy that each one needs then i put them in the drawer in 2 piles. Day and Night. He hates the smell to but i have told him that it is only because there are no chemicals in these nappies to keep the smell down. we are now out of sposies and i think he realises what we are saving as Kaelin is home 6 out of 7 days a week now so we would be going through heaps of sposies. he is getting better and has been better with the poo thing that even i am i tend to gag more often at really bad ones than he does. esp toddler poo's they just arent that fab at any time. ne way stick with it and def get him involved in choosing the nappies i show dp what i like and if he likes it too we buy it (unless i am hyenaing and thats a different matter i show him after)

We don't have this problem as DH doesn't change any nappies LOL!! Seriously I figure that I am quicker and less likely to whinge so why ask him to do it. He does help with all the other jobs like feeding, bathing & dressing etc. We also did a deal that he would clean up all doggy-doos and I would do baby-doos so we are even.

My DH is a champion - he will tell me they need changing - then wait for me to get the nappies out (even though I've made an extra huge effort lately to have every nappy pre-stuffed, pre-boosted, pre-lined and sitting with it's relevant cover neatly on a shelf...) then he will lift whichever child up onto the couch/lie them on the floor, run off and wet the wipes .....
Then find he suddenly needs to make a coffee/get something off the line/go to the toilet/do anything other than actually change them! So we get a whiny child lying on the floor waiting... so I do it. I don't think he's changed a nappy in about 6 months. And that includes him "forgetting" that they need changing when they wake up in the morning if I'm having a tiny lie in on the odd Sunday.... and then complaining when they sit on him and flood their longies..... Ahhhhh vent over.... Ali

I do all the nappy changes. DH whines and complains and procrastinates when I ask so I just do not bother.
He will do it once a week on wednesdays when I am not home if it needs doing...

I don't rescue. Sometimes (often at the beginning) i would get the "where's the..." "how do I ...." "what's this...." going on with the nappy changing. If he can't do it properly then there's only one way to learn, the same way I did - funny how mothers have no-one to rescue them. By the same token, I also had to learn not to criticise a wonky nappy
But trust me he won't throw up if he thinks he has to clean that up too.

I have everything set up so all Dh needs to do is pull them out of the drawer. The night ones are in teh stacker along with covers and longies. I would say it's about 50/50 in our house which I is pretty good.

That made me think - that he has a choice about what we use too (especially as it's his money too and I'm not exactly saving money by using cloth ATM
). He will very happily change a disposable at any time of the night or day, but modern cloth is too confusing, so I do cloth changes and he'll do a disposable change if we have some. As other people have said he does other things, but if I'm busy then I do expect him to nappy change!Bron |
