LOL Kristy, I know what you meant and we are on the same track, I grew up in Kwinana and live in Baldivis (part of Rockingham) now so I guess I am from one of "those areas" but I have had a great life here and I love it

Wow, what a huge move to contmeplate though, good luck but I am sure you will love it wherever you decide to settle! WA is quiet and relaxed but it's a great place to live!

Jo, maybe we should try and time a nappycino with your visit, LOL. (I've only ever been to one, once, for about 25 mins. I'm hanging out for another one that I can actually stay for!) Mind you, from the look of this thread, we'd just all be suggesting suburbs all over the metro area for you to live in :laugh No seriously, it looks like you've had some good ideas here.

Plenty of beach and parks around Perth. And there are plenty of places where you could live 20 mins from beach and 20 mins from Malaga. I hope you enjoy your trip!

We moved from Sydney with about 6 weeks notice at the end of last year - drove across via Melbourne - it was a lovely chance to see the country on the way

One site I found useful was http://www.arta.com.au/wamaps/perth.html it doesn't have all of the suburbs on it but it helped us work out where places were as the street directory is really spread out compared to the Sydney ones I found (ie a lot less real area per page)

It's great over here, the weather is fantastic and the people are lovely

the SOR/NOR debate is similar to sydney's but if you think about moving to any new city you'll make friends and connections near you whereever you are so living close to DH's work will probably be a good idea as it's soooooo nice to have them home again before dark

when we were in Sydney DH would travel 11/2 to 2 hrs to work each way - the same distance over here takes about 20 min - crazy, oh and the roads are toll free so going up and down the freeways isn't like the motorway $$ craziness in Syd

there are loads of parks, everywhere we drove when we came over for a recce in Nov last year there were lots of neighbourhood parks and the big one Kings Park leaves Centennial far far behind

Thanks again for all the advice lovely ladies I am having a great time reading all about Perth...and this morning i was having one of those moments where i was wondering if we are making the right choice and then i read this thread and i feel ok again

Emma - A Nappycino sounds good...even if it's when i am living over there

Ren - We are driving over also...looking forward to it as we both love driving. How long did it take you from Sydney?
